The third head held the traditional dance performance every year in Tokyo,
the students are held a meeting of mix the traditional dance performance and
the Tatsumi-ryu dance performance in many places.
We learned traditional literature in Shirayuri Jyoshi Collage and
became interested in interpretation of traditional dance lyrics.
We found how important it is to interpret lyrics for choreographing.
We then try to interpret traditional dance lyrics more deeply and
choreograph new dance steps for traditional Japanese dance.
We were also influenced by our grandfather, Tadashi Ui.
Tadashi Ui was born in 1908. He studied theater under Kaoru Osanai.
He taught his daughter, Utako, the technique and interpretation of
new drama.
Owing to his advice, Utako would succeed not only as a dancer but
also as a choreographer. Utako has been active in traditional Japanese
dance for a long time as Wakayanagi Kazuho, her stage name.
We learned choreographing from Kazuho and over 2000 pop music have
now been choreographed by us.
